Though Down Decor officially opened for business in 1994, its origins date much farther back – five generations back, in fact. Its story began in Europe in the early 1900s with the same focus on craftsmanship, ingenuity and warmth customers find today.
Then, Pinkus “Pinky” Werthaiser and his brothers formed the Midwest Feather Company in their new home in Cincinnati after World War II. Ohio Feather Company, an offshoot of Pinky’s original family business, was founded in 1984 with a focus on service to the cushion and furniture industry. Today, the Ohio Feather Company is still a leading supplier of feather and down to furniture and home textiles industries, as well as a fully vertical bulk down and feather processing facility in Cincinnati.
Andy Payne, an industry veteran, partnered with Daniel at Down Decor in 2005. Together, they transformed the company into a leading bulk down supplier to the home textiles, fashion and outdoor industries. With five generations of experience, the team at Down Decor continues to look for ways to fully serve their customers, including expanding services and offerings to include polyester products, private label cut and sew and importing services.
Daniel Guigui started Down Decor in 1994, with the support of Ohio Feather Company. Down Decor initially supplied feather pillow inserts to the wholesale, fashion and design industries. The business has since evolved into a leading supplier of utility bedding to retail, catalog, luxury linen and hospitality markets.
